Hiking alongside the Icefiord | Ilulissat | Disko Bay

On this extended hike, we follow the Blue Trail through the breathtaking landscape behind Ilulissat and along the stunning icefjord. Our journey takes us past beautiful lakes, mountains, and the historic site of Sermermiut.

The Blue Trail is one of Ilulissat’s most scenic routes, hugging the shore of the icefjord, which lies within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This trail offers magnificent views of impressive icebergs and numerous other scenic viewpoints.

Our adventure begins at the old stone quarry, leading us into the canyon before entering the beautiful backyard of Ilulissat. Along the way, we will pass a great lake and continue through the open landscape following the rige of the icefjord. So during all of the tour you will enjoy the views of the icebrgs! We will also visit the historic Sermermiut, where Inuit people have lived for over 4000 years. The hike will take its end at the old heliport, where we will be picked up by car.

Throughout the tour, your experienced guide will explain how the ice shapes the area and share insights about the stunning natural surroundings, the history of Sermermiut, and the culture of this remarkable place. Your guide will adjust the hike’s pace and rest stops according to your group’s needs and will tailor the stories to your interests. There will be plenty of time to ask any questions you might have about Greenland.

This hike is perfect for those who wish to experience the nature surrounding Ilulissat, with its gorgeous icefjord, high mountains, and beautiful lakes, while also learning about the area's rich history and culture.

This tour requires a minimum of 2 people to run. If we do not have enough people on the day, we will try to reschedule you or cancel the tour and refund your money.

For hiking tours: You should always bring a windproof jacket, regardless of the weather.

Package tours can be sold out more than half a year in advance (note that Guide to Greenland does not include international flights in packages, except where indicated from Iceland or Denmark).

Day trips may sell out closer to your arrival date, but for popular destinations, certain dates/times can also sell out months in advance. We recommend that you secure all of your experiences by booking them well in advance of your trip.
